As a facility administrator and registered nurse at DaVita Kidney Care, I’m responsible for the care of dialysis patients in the Western New York community. For those of you who don’t know, dialysis is a life-sustaining treatment for people with end stage renal disease that cleanses the blood of toxins. The treatment is done three times per week, four hours at a time. Patients with kidney disease usually suffer from other diseases and have to manage multiple doctor’s appointments and medications on their own. I see first-hand the struggles patients go through managing their own health needs for their other comorbidities.
